FLYING A: Tell us a little about Snapette.
ANNE FROM SNAPETTE: Snapette is an app with two sides to it. The first side is for shoppers so they can see products that they like that are near them or just popular in general. It’s a great tool for someone that’s out shopping to figure out what’s actually around them. The way that it started is that Jinhee, the founder was out shopping in London, and she had a list of boutiques that she had written down before she went out, but she got lost and couldn’t figure out where the stores she wanted to go to were. So her idea for Snapette was essentially that someone who’s out shopping can pull up the app and look up what boutiques are close to them and get directions. It facilitates a really easy shopping experience as customers can search for not only stores but products as well. The other side is for boutiques to take advantage of. They can put up products they have available so that shoppers can see what’s in the store.

FLYING A: So what is the long-term goal of Snapette?
ANNE: I can’t speak for the whole company [laughs], but a blanket statement about Snapette would be that it’s really to drive offline shopping and rejuvenate the experience of shopping on the street.
FLYING A: Who is the Snapette girl?
ANNE: We have a range of users. Our target user would be someone who knows a lot about fashion. We’ve had a lot of talks in the office about who the Snapette girl is, and we’ve basically come to the conclusion that anyone can be a Snapette girl, but the users who are most engaged are the women who really know what they want and know about the fashion world and additionally girls that aspire to be that way.
FLYING A: And tell us a bit about your role on the Snapette team.
ANNE: Well, I run our blog. I come up with the content for the posts primarily, but I also spend a lot of time going to boutiques, seeing what’s available, trying to get them on the app… [Laughs] We get to do a lot, and that’s what’s so great about working in a startup—you can really get your hands dirty. I also work with our marketing director to work on offline marketing events.
FLYING A: Are you guys planning anything for Fashion’s Night Out?
ANNE: We will be… but I can’t say anything about that yet!
