Watches, Backpacks, Giveaways! Oh My!

Win these bad boys!

NYFW is just around the corner, and you know what that means: eight action-packed days of shows, presentations, and parties galore! Scheduling for this monster affair can be a bit of a hassle, and while we're pretty sure the vast majority of things will run late, at least you can feign punctuality with some snazzy new arm candy from Nixon. We're giving away a glam glam gold Kensington watch (left) as part of our NYFW/FNO gifting extravaganza. Here's how to enter:

1. Leave a comment on this blog telling us your most embarrassing late moment. (Interpret as you wish, but basically: why do you need a new watch?)
2. Like us on Facebook and/or follow us on Twitter (and tell us your handle so we can verify).
3. Check back on September 7 (the day after FNO) when we announce the winner.

But wait, there's more! We're also giving away a brand new bag from boutique mens accessories brand Property Of! The Tommy sports pack (right) is made of weatherproof wax-coated canvas and features a padded 15" laptop compartment to protect your precious hardware. Here's how to enter:

1. Leave a comment on this blog telling us what's in your bag. What do you schlep around on a daily basis?
2. Like us on Facebook and/or follow us on Twitter (and tell us your handle so we can verify).
3. Check back on September 7 (the day after FNO) when we announce the winner.

UPDATE: CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR TWO WINNERS, @ladyfantastique and @brandontylerday!

  1. My schlepping essentials include New York Magazine (thanks to a former neighbor who'd forgotten to cancel her subscription), Tide to Go (for my high-energy/clumsy fat ass lifestyle), Super sunglasses (ie hangover shades), and eyedrops (ocular health is very important to me). I really need a new backpack. Help me out!

  2. Well one time, I was four days late so I went to Rite Aid... Sorry. T'was inevitable. Just wanted to be the first.

    But actually, way back when on my way to my first-ever day of my first-ever internship (and my first-ever experience with free labor), I was walking down the street when a woman stepped on my shoe and broke it clean in half. Not even a huge lady, either. I don't really understand the science behind it, but it was impressive. But anyway, it was so early in the morning that no stores were open, so my choice was between going home and being late on my first day or showing up without one shoe. I decided to suck it up and walk in lopsided (we've all been there, right? right?) and staple my shoe back together in the bathroom before most of the office showed up. It didn't really help. So that's my late story! Not that a time-telling piece would have helped much in this situation... except that maybe my coworkers would be so blinded by my shiny nixon that they wouldn't see my one foot surrounded by a sharp mass of staples and leather that looked as if it came straight out of Mordor.

    @ladyfantastique pick me pick me!!!!

  5. My most embarrassing late moment is being late for a meeting at work and having to walk in and interrupt the meeting in progress.

  6. I have my big Susan Nichole Vegan Hobo Bag, which is like the size of an overnight bag. It takes a while to dig through, but I will eventually find one of my many lip glosses, my cell, my oversized wallet, hairbrush, my medical supplies (I have MS), pens, notepaper, feminine products and usually at least one bracelet.

  9. My most embarrassing moment happened in 2008. I was supposed to meet this guy for a breakfast date and got lost on the way from NJ to NYC (Penn station). Reached 3 hours late, drenched as a bucket and it was almost time for lunch! Was looking like a washed out sheet, was worried that it was a futile journey and the date was marked as fail even before it started! But wait... the guy was still waiting for me (miracles of faith) and the date went off pretty well ;)

    PS: Love the watch, fab! Crossing my fingers tight! xo

  11. What I "schlep" around day-to-day is: headphones so I can pretend I'm not listening to someone, sunglasses so people don't see me staring at them, and a knife because... let's be honest I have to walk through the ghetto to class and I'm not trying to get mugged. I mean if the robber has a gun I'm still screwed but at least I can say I tried. Friends don't let friends carry around knives with a lame bag. Help a homie out.

  12. Last week, I took a vacation trip to New York City to visit my best friend. I wanted to visit Times Square, so we decided to split and meet up at a restaurant in Chinatown a few hours later. Thinking Chinatown was only a few blocks away, I took my sweet time. Long story short, I ended up walking to Chinatown (actually something like 90 blocks) and was about 45 minutes late. It was even worse when I discovered that my friend had invited several other people, and the whole group had been waiting for me. Pretty embarassing.

  13. I have got inthe habit of schlepping my ipad everywhere I go. Of course theres always the purse, the sunscreen, snacks for the kids, and a coupon book. The Ipad is essential though...it just does everything.

    I like you too...Sarah "Uramkin" Austin

  15. Hi,

    One of my most embarassing moment was when I woke up early to study for an esam. I studied and forgot the time. So I was late to class so I barged and ran to class; missing out on breakfast. I made it to class...hungry. Halfway into the exam...my stomach screamed out loud that it wanted food. So embarassing!

    On a daily basis, I would carry around my chapstick, my wallet, my case-less netbook, and my iphone.

    Thanks.
    @CtrlChris
